We really have to start in Germany in the so called „Wirtschaftswunder” in the early 60s: the people tried to rebuild the economy and each little progress was a sensation: the first coffee, butter and so on. And the very first foreign restaurants opening up in Germany haven’t been the Chinese – nope – they were „YUGOSLAVIAN“ (as they were called back then).
I was a young food lover and from my very first earned money I went to the high quality “Yugoslavian” and ordered CEVAPCICI with DJUVEC RISE, IJVAR & COLESLAW! OMG! What a delightful experience – I never ever could forget that! Since then I’m much to the chagrin of my friends not addicted by – but really CRAZY ABOUT CEVAPCICI! Absolutely nuts.
But today in the now called ‚CROATIAN RESTAURANTS’ time has stood still and their prime is long long over. Many of these places have seen their last bit of new color on the walls when General Tito was still in charge – and in many boring places the owners have lost their energy and the food it’s former class …
NOT SO THE DALMATINER GRILL IN MUNICH: very ambitious owner family and chefs, mouthwatering Croatian dishes and beyond, the place very lively and always packed … Whenever I come to Munich I have to eat the best Cevapcici in Germany at the DALMATINER GRILL IN MUNICH and then I’m back to my youth and my very first wonderful restaurant experience… MY CEVAPCICI HEAVEN …
