A lovely summer eve in Xberg in a French Fine Dining Restaurant. I was in a good mood and with an open mind ….

I asked for a glass of Champagne and went to the very short menu. Since I don’t eat seafood and game, my choice was clear. I challenged the Maitre asking for a buttery White and got the sensational LES TOURS.

The ASPARAGUS starter was very very delicious – but for my feeling too small as a portion. So I was more busy with the wine…. Gradually more guests arrived, but the atmosphere for me still remained between peace and melancholy. My VEAL FILLET had a very fine and subtle taste, again a bit small for me and it could have been a bit more tasty.

The next observation is purely subjective and has no claim for objectivity: I sensed that some guests loved the food, but struggled a bit with the higher end prices and lower end portions – but a Prix Fixe’ Menu ordered with the CC booking (?) seemed to be the solution.

CC booking? It’s annoying but understandable when a restaurant always is fully booked. But is that really the case for MASTAN? And especially in Xberg where the sophisticated people don’t seem to be Credit Card enthusiasts. Anyway.

The Strawberries with Crème was a dream – but the MOUSSE AU CHOCOLAT was the best I ever had! With crispy chocolate crumbs inside… !
