You can’t eat fashion – but money can eat brain: investors and politicians ruined Berlin’s BOULEVARD KURFÜRSTENDAMM (and Friedrichstrasse as well) by just building and allowing fancy shops and empty offices – totally neglecting the vital importance of Cafés, Restaurants and Bars for the vitality of a Grand Boulevard. For many years REINHARD’S was the only feel good place at Kudamm.

Rumors say that then the landlord (the hotel) didn’t prolong Reinhard’s lease but contracted flops as SCIROCCO and LA RESIDENZA. After two failures they took it particularly seriously and opened October 10th FLANEUR under their own management.

On sign of that seriousness is the hiring of a great Maitre from the China Club. The location is one of the best in Berlin, the interior has max modern elegance, the service was (even on day 2) perfect – but unfortunately the kitchen was partly DISAPPOINTING …

Since we desperately need a successful FLANEUR at THE KUDAMM – I hope and wish that FLANEUR doesn’t just grab the low hanging fruits (espresso guests during the day) – but demanding dinner guests as well… BONNE CHANCE, FLANEUR !
