A few days ago I saw a Berliner Italian Restaurant showcasing a photo with MIKE TYSON as their recent guest…. and I thought, that’s a place I shouldn’t go. But too late: I already have been there and was not unexpectedly very disappointed. Showy or trendy cat walk eateries are definitely not for me. I love the hero chefs, working every day very hard and very creatively to pamper their guests with heavenly dishes – without making a big ego show about it. Such a hero is the owner and head chef of BRUDERHERZ. Why such a romantic brotherly name? Ask the chef …

Horizontal cooking is making well known dishes just differently, sometimes even stupidly differently. Vertical cooking is to upgrade traditional recipes to the better and better. THAT’S the more difficult task. Simple BRUSCETTA? Always the same? Not at BRUDERHERZ. So yummy.

Same is true for VITELLO TONNATTO. A hundred times eaten – but seldomly as good as at BRUDERHERZ …

TAGLIOLINI with TRUFFLES. Another traditional dish – but often not more than just the individual fine ingredients. The challenge is, to let the Tagliolini, the creamy Parmesan sauce and the summer truffles TASTE ALL TOGETHER AS ONE! Heavenly. If that happens, you can close your eyes … and maybe your’e at BRUDERHERZ.

At the end I became a little crazy and asked in an Italian restaurant for a WHISKY SOUR: and it knocked me off my chair – as perfectly mixed & shaked as it was. Chapeau!

When ever I would end my restaurant hunting, I have 7 heavenly places in Berlin and 12 in other European cities, which I would visit regularly. BRUDERHERZ is one of them.
