Sorry, this one will become a bit lengthy. So you’ll better take a day of before starting to read.

The UNIVERSITÄTSSTRASSE is a sensation on its own: a short street with old classic buildings on both sides let you feel to be in an old Martin Scorcese NYC Mafia Movie or in a painting from Edward Hopper.

Through the huge windows of the DOROTHEÁ you see the warm light of a very elegant restaurant. As we went in, the utterly cosy and posh Interior Design and the natural friendliness of the young Maitre with a positive personality gave us a warm welcome.

What particularly struck me was the large guest room with the generous table spacing and the somewhat elevated rear part of the room – something that makes the rear seatings much more enjoyable and that I saw last time just in the Café des Paris in Saint Tropez. Chapeaux to the architect. All in all the DOROTHEÁ gives you a spacious luxury with enough space to the neighbor table – quite the opposite to most high end places in Berlin where your neighbors easily can follow and join your very private conversation …

The DOROTHEÁ opened last November and is my most sensational discovery in recent times. Wonderful atmosphere, a sophisticated service with a convincing natural personality and heavenly food (with some exceptions). But for me the chef has proven that he can reach the top.

Now to tragedy, guilt and shame: the POLLO DORATO was in look, presentation and taste so very much overwhelming to me, THAT I FORGOT TO MAKE A PICTURE !!! The plate looked like a colorful painting from Van Gogh – and the taste was such a great combination of ditterent textures and herbes … Just heavenly. It you go here – it’s a MUST TRY! The Universitätsstraße is not highly frequented, but I’m sure the high performance of this new star in Berlin will bring all the deserved success.
