We were early. Inside two guest rooms. One with warm yellow light. One with colder white light.     I asked the young waiter for the more cosy room – but was told that the Bar Room was already fully booked.

We ordered a first glass of open German Wine from the spectacular List of Open German Wines. Very good.

Then the owner (?) came to our table explaining that they don’t take reservations for individual tables. My obviously unavoidable question HOW COME THAT THE BAR ROOM TONIGHT IS FULLY BOOKED WHEN YOU DON’T TAKE TABLE RESERVATIONS – his lengthy answer  I understood as YOU CAN EXPRESS A WISH AND THEN HOPE FOR IT – A BIT LIKE XMAS..!.   To my dear fellow readers: “How would you have felt?”

The taste of the four dishes we had ranked between okay-ish and not good. But the list of open German Win was spectacular!

So at the end: do you want a punch line? Here it is: AS WE LEFT at 20:00, OUR FAVORITE ROOM WAS STILL EMPTY except one table, since all the other guests were sitting in the Courtyard. That really felt like a LOW BLOW.

So nothing will bring me back to the KURPFALZ WEINSTUBEN – except the missing Credit Card copy they couldn’t print out for me …
