The long walking main street from Venice central station to Rialto ends as the STRADA NOVE, which ends at the unspectacular CAMPO S.S. APOSTOLI. All tourists turn right, direction Rialto Bridge – but come with me!

We walk straight 20 steps into the Osteria DAL RICCIO PEOCO which looks unspectacular as well and just has 2 tables and 8 seats – so we get a Spritzz at the counter and stay a bit aside and watch and listen …  Locals come and go, always welcomed and farewelled with a big Ciao Ciao like best friends … They come for Ciccetti Cotto or Fish – but mainly to Chat & Chat & Chat… Now we’re getting hungry, so we skip our fuxxxng fine dining reservation and order the just prepared Pasta del Giorno and a simple Rosso, which in this moment taste like the best spaghetti and wine of the whole world …

Meanwhile we’re not observers of the Theatro Veneziano anymore – even with our little Italian we’re part of it … The eve is getting darker and we’re chanting with the locals without having a clue … After some more Rosso, the obligatory Tiramisu and after having overtipped we’re getting too many Grappa on the house … Finally we’re heading everything but straight home:

„LA VITA È BELLA!”
