I left this safe address for Austrian delights out for too long – since it’s well known for 30 years.    But then I felt: go there, even knowing that there would be no surprises waiting for me! So – here we go.

As a welcome I had a little argument with the waitress where to sit at the bar, which was totally empty at that time. I ordered an excellent Sparkling and their „Favourite Salad”: a kind of „angel hair“ raw vegetable creation – for me perfectly fitting into the summer season, but in winter too little to bite for me.

My main, the ZWIEBELROSTBRATEN was good – but the Jus was outstanding! The red confirmed again that this place is an excellent wine merchant as well.

I always finish my dinner in Austrian restaurants with a Kaiserschmarrn. My top favorites in Berlin so far have been at the , Einstein unter den Linden’ and at the (still closed but hopefully soon reopening) ‚Einstein Mommseneck’. So I was curiously waiting for my dessert at OTTENTHAL:  the taste of the Kaiserschmarrn was delightful – but the dough was a bit firm and not the ultra fluffy texture I love.

So all in all no surprises at this well known and safe address for good Austrian food. At the end of each restaurant visit it comes to the moment of truth: May I come back one day? – Yep! Do I have to as soon as possible? – Nope!
